"Music!//
it’s in my heart... "
After almost three years of 'Toyaway', I'm retiring
[the project].
Before going, I'm compiling a (large) programme--
a programm von programmen,
one could say--
out of the shelved recordings.
The goal is to complete/release said (grande) programa by 3/30, (hopefully much sooner,) so that my feature on OHYUNG's upcoming album,
the final track,
'Memorial',
can serve as such. That releases on 3/31--
a beautiful album that I'm honored to be a part of--
I also helped capture footage to represent the project--

...//back to toyaway
It just wasn't working.
The idea [was] 'to play',
'... to play with instruments like a child plays with toys'...
// to record everything, and
"work on" nothing...'
The projects were 'results'//
'I' was removed...
(I purposely avoided adding any descriptions to the 'projects', which came about as 'big waves'-- weeks in which there were lots of recordings that seemed to work well together.)
The problem was, well, I'd gotten pretty good at [the idea].
I was playing a lot-- recording everything-- and never "working".
Usually instrumental stuff, but some with vocal attempts. I'd accumulated a boatload of demos, (rolls eyes,) which I loved too much to 'release' without editing-some... (rolls eyes x2...)
in other words//
they all needed a bit of work,
but working was against the rules.
(I'm immune to physical clutter, but sensitive to digital build-up... hey!)
This is why the idea and I are breaking up.
((...heaven is a place on line...))
I want to start crafting, character-building, conceptualizing~~
so much else, with music. I've grown tired of playing (and listening) to the improvised vibe. I'm changing! That's all.
I'll let you know!

// status . . .
My current state of existence is ... quiet.
When
I'm not working,
I explore bandcamp // eBay...
My friend Jordan and I have been granted a space to test out our idea of operating a shop.
We plan to sell/lend
a small curated selection of music, film, and literature, as well as equipment to create such things.
We may start an obscure 'record label', and sell coffee, too.
I think we'll open up sometime
late-March//
early-April..
Much of my work is social. I've been volunteering at a Media Arts Co-Op for a couple years now. I help organize camera gear and lend it out to Public Space One members.
I co-produce a local video program through that space called ICVZ, which screens locally every-other-month.
Of course,
I'm still driving school bus. That's the work I enjoy most// more than any art project. It's true!
I can't prove it,
but I think it's true.
Lastly-- best for last-- my partnership with Elly: I'm so lucky to share this grand experience with her. Corny, but hey, we're Iowans-- she's gravity. Our partnership is the only real thing I'm doing-- it's the only thing there actually is.
